Governor’s Trade Delegation Returns from South Korea

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - On Friday, January 12, Governor Pete Ricketts welcomed back a trade delegation made up of trade representatives from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Nebraska Innovation Campus (NIC), Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development, and Gage Area Growth Enterprise (NGage). The delegation met with companies and industry associations in Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 9-10, to promote Nebraska as a destination for foreign direct investment.

Former Tyson Foods CEO to deliver Jan. 9 Heuermann Lecture

Lincoln, Neb. — Donnie Smith, former president and CEO of Tyson Foods, will discuss global food security during the second Heuermann Lecture of the 2017-18 season on Jan. 9.

Smith said he believes the story of agriculture must be told truthfully to strengthen the ability to feed a growing population. He will highlight the role conventional farming must play in this effort and why the public should vigorously and vocally defend the practice.

A University of Nebraska faculty collaboration has received funding that will help it prepare a next-generation surgical robot for a round of human trials and consideration for commercial approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Brite Belt joins Alliance for Advanced Sanitation

Brite Belt, a company that specializes in flat conveyor belt cleaning and sanitizing, has joined the Alliance for Advanced Sanitation.

The alliance, launched by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and industry partners in 2015, works to improve sanitation approaches and practices with and for the food industry.

Nebraska Innovation Campus has announced a new partner. Dan Duncan, NIC's executive director, said MCNA Dental recently moved into its office space on the campus.

MCNA Dental is a leading dental benefits manager committed to providing high-quality services to state agencies and managed care organizations for their Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program and Medicare members. They serve about 4 million children and adults in Nebraska, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Iowa and Idaho, with operations to begin soon in Arkansas.

Duncan elected to AURP Board of Directors

Dan Duncan, executive director of Nebraska Innovation Campus, has been elected to serve on the Association of University Research Parks' board of directors. NIC earns international award as best ‘new’ research campus

Reflecting five years of momentum, Nebraska Innovation Campus was honored with the Emerging Research Park Award from the Association of University Research Parks on Oct. 11.

The award, among several of the association’s Awards of Excellence, is presented annually to a research park that has been in operation fewer than 10 years and excels in bringing technology from the laboratory to economically viable business activities, promoting business growth, jobs and public revenue.
