Young Nebraska Scientists (YNS) conducted by Nebraska EPSCoR with funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) - offers camps for middle and high school students throughout the state. YNS experiences focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) topics, and are a great way for teens to sample a career, meet friends and mentors, and find their future! NSF fundings helps keep YNS camp fees low; and need-based scholarships are readily available. Faculty from Nebraska colleges and universities are camp leaders, and camp staff include university students.
People have been obsessed with chocolate for over 5,000 years. The Olmec and Mayan people used cocoa beans to make chocolatey drinks. The Aztecs used cocoa beans as currency and to make tasty treats. However, the first chocolate bar didn't show up until 1847 and has only gotten better since. This camp is great for students interested in fermentation, roasting, and finding out how we can change the texture and flavor of this amazing treat. Join us to discover the incredible science behind chocolate production. Science never tasted so good! The camp fee is $20.
