Construction begins on groundbreaking precision ag research center

Construction of the National Center for Resilient and Regenerative Precision Agriculture at Nebraska Innovation Campus launched with a ceremonial turning of dirt on May 6.

The state-of-the-art research center is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service, University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Nebraska Innovation Campus. The center will focus on the challenges and opportunities in agricultural innovation for the 21st century.

Engel named next executive director of Nebraska Innovation Campus

Kate Engel, an experienced leader in university-based research campus operations, has been named executive director of the Nebraska Innovation Campus Development Corporation, effective May 1. NICDC is the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that oversees Nebraska Innovation Campus.

Ag Week in Nebraska celebrated at Innovation Campus

University of Nebraska–Lincoln leaders joined Gov. Jim Pillen at Nebraska Innovation Campus on March 19 to celebrate Agriculture Week in the Cornhusker State.

The event, held at the Greenhouse Innovation Center, included an Agriculture Week in Nebraska proclamation from Gov. Pillen, tours of research spaces within the greenhouse, and a preview of the National Center for Resilient and Regenerative Precision Agriculture. Other participants included representatives from the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, FFA members, 4-H leaders, and the Nebraska Farm Bureau.

University leaders thank federal delegation for USDA ag research facility investment

University of Nebraska Interim President Chris Kabourek was joined March 11 by NU leaders in issuing statements on the bipartisan federal spending bill approved by the House and Senate and signed by the President.

The budget package includes $25 million for construction of a USDA Agricultural Research Service facility located at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Innovation Campus, part of a broad vision at the university to advance agricultural research and development for the future.

Innovation Studio offering training, programming on next-gen robots

Since its founding in 2015, Nebraska Innovation Studio has served the university community, entrepreneurs and businesses in the state. The makerspace is now catalyzing Nebraska’s robotics ecosystem.

Since November 2023, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s makerspace has offered training for programming and operation of collaborative and welding robots. The workshops are open to anyone.

AURP Announces 2024 Board Of Directors and Officers

AURP, a 37-year global nonprofit association representing research parks, innovation districts, technology regions and residing firms in support of the growth and development of these communities, today announces its 2024 elected Board of Directors and Officers.

AURP Board members may serve up to two consecutive three-year terms. The term for these newly elected and incumbent Board members is January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2026:

Lincoln's 2023 Hour of Code and Tech Fair event at NIC

Nebraska Bluegrass Concert Series sees successful second year

Three Wednesday nights in September 2023 were especially lively on Nebraska Innovation Campus. Local bluegrass fans and families wanting to experience some free fun created a crowd of around 500 people each week.

Locals congregated in the paved courtyard in front of The Mill Coffee & Bistro, bringing their lawn chairs and dogs to enjoy the cool September evening temperatures. Crowds clustered atop The Scarlet Hotel across the street, where the musicians were housed, and enjoyed bluegrass music from the Barred Owl rooftop bar.

Nebraska Innovation Campus named Outstanding Research Park at AURP's 27th Annual Awards of Excellence in Innovation

Nebraska Innovation Campus was named Outstanding Research Park at the Association of University Research Parks’ (AURP) 2023 International Conference held Oct. 16-19 at the University of Delaware’s STAR Campus. AURP is the leading nonprofit organization representing research parks, innovation districts, tech hubs and all communities of innovation.
