Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)

Monday, February 11, 2019 - 1:00pm to 2:30pm

In the past 25 years, physics and astronomy have made huge gains in our understanding of the origin and evolution of the universe. We will examine the universe from the structure of individual atoms up to the structure of the entire universe. Once we have discussed how the large-scale universe is put together, we will examine the current theory that the universe came from nothing. We will discuss several misconceptions about science and run through the different structural components of the universe from sub-atomic particles to clusters of galaxies. We will run the universe backwards to the beginning and talk about how it all came about, literally from nothing.
