Monos in Oil, An Art Exhibition

Monos in Oil is a captivating collection of monoprints created with oil paint and glass panes. The series features a diverse range of subject matter, from musicians to abstract portraits. This unique selection of oil paintings emerged alongside corresponding works on archival glass. The creative process is akin to monotype printmaking, focusing on the interplay between abstractions and illustrations of musicians. The emphasis lies more on the artistic technique—utilizing a brush, paint, glass, and physical pressure—than on the specific subjects themselves. The process was both innovative and enjoyable, exploring the potential of these materials and methods. Javier Rivera is an artist based in Lincoln, Nebraska, specializing in figurative painting and drawing. He earned his BFA from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2022. Javier has exhibited his work in various local and underground venues in Lincoln and his hometown of Omaha. He currently operates out of a studio in the Parrish Project building in downtown Lincoln.
