Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge

Tuesday, November 14, 2017 - 9:00am to 9:00pm

Nebraska Innovation Campus will host the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge starting at 9 a.m. Nov. 14. The event, which is presented by CFA Society Nebraska, will be at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center. It offers high school students the chance to get a taste of what it is like to work on Wall Street. During the event, high school teams from a 12-county region will compete in growing a mock stock portfolio. The team that earns the highest overall net worth will be declared the winner. Elements of the competition include: - Each team is issued $1 million in mock stock to invest in 26 fictitious companies. - Each trading day lasts 90 seconds, allowing two months of trading to be completed in the two-hour competition. - Traders on-site make buying and selling instantaneous. - Period news releases and “hot tips” will be released, reflecting fictitious real-world events and industry developments, which in turn cause stock prices to fluctuate. Participants must constantly react to the market’s ups and downs, helping to create a frenetic atmosphere that simulates a real-life trading floor.
