Spreetail keeping head down in rapidly changing e-commerce world

Brett Thome compares Spreetail, the company he runs, to a duck. It looks calm on the surface, but below, things are going 100 miles an hour.

These days, a comparison to a small fish might be more apt. And that fish is swimming in a sea of sharks.

Spreetail is the Lincoln e-commerce company that burst on the scene last fall, announcing its presence with a name change and a move to Nebraska Innovation Campus.

Nebraska Food for Health Center to unite strengths in agriculture, medicine

The Nebraska Food for Health Center, a more than $40 million initiative to improve the lives of people around the world, was launched today at the University of Nebraska.

Entrepreneurship task force hosting town halls

The Nebraska Legislature’s Venture Development and Entrepreneurship Task Force plans to hold five town hall meetings across the state this summer, including in Lincoln.

The task force, made up of state sens. Dan Watermeier of Syracuse, Matt Williams of Gothenburg, Paul Schumacher of Columbus, Al Davis of Hyannis, John Stinner of Gering, and Mark Kolterman of Seward, is charged to examine and review the role entrepreneurship and innovation play in Nebraska’s economy.

Founding director of the Alliance for Advanced Food Sanitation named

Angela Anandappa has been named the founding director of the Alliance for Advanced Food Sanitation.

Anandappa will lead the initiation and development of university-industry research projects and outreach programs to the food industry to promote better and more efficient approaches to food sanitation based upon sound scientific and engineering principles.

Food Processing Center to host workshop for craft brewers

A new workshop offered by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Food Processing Center will focus on the science of beer production. "The Science Behind the Craft," a workshop for craft brewers, will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 25 at Nebraska Innovation Campus, 2021 Transformation Drive.

Next Innovation Campus building on track

In two weeks, construction fences will go up on the site of the next Nebraska Innovation Campus building -- 80,000 square feet under development by Tetrad Property Group.

At first, the fence will encircle an area set aside for activities related to this year’s Cattlemen’s Ball, which begins June 3 in Lincoln and has a dinner that night at Innovation Campus.
