Virtual Incision mini-robots conduct first known human surgery

Virtual Incision Corp., a company founded by faculty members at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, has announced the successful first-in-human use of its miniaturized robotically assisted surgical device.

The two developed the robot for minimally invasive surgeries. Farritor and Oleynikov's startup company, Virtual Incision, announced March 1 the first use of its miniaturized robot in human surgery.

Safety and health organizations to join NIC

Nebraska Innovation Campus has announced a new partner. Dan Duncan, executive director of NIC, said Great Plains Safety and Health Organization and the Nebraska Safety Center will move into space on campus early this year.

The Great Plains Safety and Health Organization promotes safety, health and environmental responsibility by providing affordable professional education, support and advice. The group helps members and nonmembers to comply with or exceed OSHA, community and internal company safety and health requirements.

Virtual Incision to locate at Nebraska Innovation Campus

Nebraska Innovation Campus has announced a new partner. Dan Duncan, executive director of NIC, said today that Virtual Incision Corp. will move into space on campus in early 2016.

'Making for Innovation' is focus of Nebraska Lecture

From developing tiny surgical robots to launching the Nebraska Innovation Studio, fearless experimentation has defined University of Nebraska-Lincoln engineer Shane Farritor's career. In the fall Nebraska Lecture on Oct. 27, Farritor will discuss how creativity and risk-taking are essential to innovation.

Nebraska Innovation Campus will open its doors to the public Oct. 9 to celebrate its grand opening

NIC works to connect private business partners with the talent of university faculty for the purpose of transforming ideas into innovations. NIC has established a collaborative and innovative culture that nurtures dynamic, creative energy.

Campus tours begin at 4 and 4:30 p.m. From 5 to 7 p.m., the Nebraska Alumni Association will host Football Friday at NIC in anticipation of the Oct. 10 football game against Wisconsin.

Nebraska Innovation Campus will hold a public grand opening at 4 p.m. Oct. 9. The event will include Football Friday, a Nebraska Alumni Association celebration held on Fridays before home football games.

E-commerce firm is NIC's newest partner

Spreetail, a Lincoln-based e-commerce firm formerly known as VMInnovations, will move into space at Nebraska Innovation Campus by spring 2016.

IntelliFarm to partner with NIC

Product development company IntelliFarm is Nebraska Innovation Campus’ newest partner. Dan Duncan, executive director of NIC, said the company would move its corporate office into space on campus later this year.

“We are pleased with the synergy and interactions IntelliFarm will bring to our campus and culture,” Duncan said.

IntelliFarm, based in Lincoln, develops intelligent and revolutionary products for the global agricultural industry. The company is engineering disruptive AgTech focused on simple and elegant technology solutions for agriculture.

Faculty startup is latest partner at NIC

Metagenome Analytics LLC, a start-up bioinformatics company led by a University of Nebraska-Lincoln food science professor, is the latest partner to be announced at Nebraska Innovation Campus.

Dan Duncan, the campus’ executive director, said the company, known as MGA, will move into space on campus later this year.

Innovation Campus bus routes launch Aug. 24

New bus routes connecting City and East campuses to Nebraska Innovation Campus will replace UNL's perimeter van service.

The routes were planned in accordance with the move of UNL's Department of Food Science and Technology from East Campus to Nebraska Innovation Campus. StarTran, Lincoln's city-owned bus service, will manage the routes through a five-year, $4.1 million contract with UNL.
