The prospect of a higher-yielding Corn Belt could rest – or advance – on a conveyer belt monitored by cameras that boast superhuman sight, according to new research from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Nebraska Innovation Campus has announced a new partner. Dan Duncan, NIC’s executive director, said today that the Children’s Center for the Child & Community has moved into space on campus.

A new workshop offered by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Food Processing Center will focus on the science of beer production. "The Science Behind the Craft," a workshop for craft brewers, will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 25 at Nebraska Innovation Campus, 2021 Transformation Drive.

By using wastewater to heat and cool its buildings, Nebraska Innovation Campus will give off only about half as much greenhouse gas as comparable commercial buildings, a new study has found.

The findings demonstrate NIC’s emphasis on sustainability and social responsibility, said Dan Duncan, the campus’ executive director.

With support from a National Science Foundation grant, University of Nebraska-Lincoln researchers are developing a new tool that will help them better identify plant characteristics that are critical to improving crop performance.

The three-year, $534,194 grant will be used to develop an instrument that will improve capacity, sensitivity and throughput for plant phenotyping.

University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds announced April 6 that following a national search, he has named Ronnie D. Green the next chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Green's appointment is subject to approval by the Board of Regents by its May 25 meeting.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and NUtech Ventures will host several public events with Molly Kocialski, director of the Rocky Mountain Regional United States Patent and Trademark Office, during her March 29-30 visit to the university.

Work by the Great Plains Woodturning Club of Lincoln will be displayed at Nebraska Innovation Studio starting March 21. An exhibit reception will be 5 to 7 p.m. April 1 in the NIS Cooper Foundation Makers Gallery.

The event is free and open to the public. The reception attendees also will be invited to take self-guided tours of NIS.
