K-12 Science Education Summit

Monday, December 11, 2017 - 9:00am to 4:00pm

The second Nebraska K-12 Science Education Summit will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center. The summit is a one-day statewide event bringing together an array of stakeholders engaged in K-12 science education in Nebraska. All Nebraska Department of Education leaders, district science directors and administrators, Education Service Unit science staff developers, K-12 science teachers, science teacher educators, and University of Nebraska constituents are invited. Lunch and refreshments will be available. Registration is available at https://ssp.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3OQOUsClesWsRqR. The goals of this summit are to systemically advance current statewide K-12 science education reform efforts and enhance collaboration between practitioners and potential partners in Nebraska, particularly those from the University of Nebraska system. In 2017, the summit will give participants the opportunity to get an update on Nebraska’s new college- and career-ready standards; explore three-dimensional learning, phenomena and integrated science; learn about innovative K-12 science curriculum, resources, and programs developed by university faculty; and engage with science education stakeholders from across Nebraska. Presenters can propose a breakout session on the registration form. A block of rooms is available at the Embassy Suites in downtown Lincoln at the discounted rate of $93 per night. Please call 402-474-1111 or go online to reserve a room by Nov. 24. Request the Nebraska Science Education Summit block or using group code K12 to receive the discount. All lodging costs are the responsibility of those making reservations.
