MCNA Dental newly located at NIC

Nebraska Innovation Campus has announced a new partner. Dan Duncan, NIC's executive director, said MCNA Dental recently moved into its office space on the campus.

MCNA Dental is a leading dental benefits manager committed to providing high-quality services to state agencies and managed care organizations for their Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program and Medicare members. They serve about 4 million children and adults in Nebraska, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Iowa and Idaho, with operations to begin soon in Arkansas.

Duncan elected to AURP Board of Directors

Dan Duncan, executive director of Nebraska Innovation Campus, has been elected to serve on the Association of University Research Parks' board of directors. Duncan was selected during the association's 2017 International Conference, which was Oct. 12 in Huntsville, Alabama. Read more about Duncan's selection.

NIC earns international award as best ‘new’ research campus

Reflecting five years of momentum, Nebraska Innovation Campus was honored with the Emerging Research Park Award from the Association of University Research Parks on Oct. 11.

The award, among several of the association’s Awards of Excellence, is presented annually to a research park that has been in operation fewer than 10 years and excels in bringing technology from the laboratory to economically viable business activities, promoting business growth, jobs and public revenue.

KRVN, Rural Radio Network to locate news bureau, studio at NIC

Nebraska radio station KRVN 880 and the Rural Radio Network will add a news bureau and production studio at Nebraska Innovation Campus this fall.

"KRVN's radio network across the state will enable NIC to connect to everyone in Nebraska and share our stories," NIC Executive Director Dan Duncan said.

Mutual of Omaha to have presence at Nebraska Innovation Campus

Nebraska Innovation Campus Executive Director Dan Duncan announced Sept. 13 that Mutual of Omaha will move into space at NIC this fall.

Construction begins on newest Nebraska Innovation Campus building

Construction on a new 80,000-square-foot, multi-tenant building at Nebraska Innovation Campus is underway.

Dan Duncan, NIC’s executive director, said the building continues the momentum of the long-term build-out plan for the research campus. The newest facility – NIC’s fifth – was announced Aug. 30 and is planned to open in late summer 2018 northeast of 21st Street and Transformation Drive.

A new three-story, 80,000-square-foot building at Nebraska Innovation Campus will feature a business incubator and common spaces built to spur collaboration. The area around the building also will include a community garden and space for outdoor activities.

A model for innovation: Project will bring makerspace to Sidney

A new project led by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will establish an Innovation Makerspace Co-Laboratory in Sidney, with the goal of building a network of makerspaces around the state in small towns and places they wouldn't normally exist.

Seminar program at Nebraska helps food entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs looking to start a food business are encouraged to register for the National Food Entrepreneur Program offered by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Food Processing Center. The program, which began in 1989, helps people develop their products and businesses.

Mill Coffee & Bistro set for June 12 opening at NIC

Open to public, NIC's first restaurant is a new take on a local favorite

The Mill Coffee & Bistro will open for business at Nebraska Innovation Campus on June 12.

The Bistro will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a menu that features The Mill’s signature coffees and teas as well as an expanded food menu of breakfast items, lunch items, small plates, snacks, wine and beer. The new restaurant is open to the public.

Weller named head of food science and technology, Food Processing Center

Curtis Weller has been named head of the Department of Food Science and Technology and director of the Food Processing Center at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

Weller has held both roles on an interim basis since August 2016, when Rolando Flores left to become dean of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at New Mexico State University.
