Nebraska Innovation Campus (NIC) is a research campus designed to facilitate new and more in-depth partnerships between UNL and the private sector.
What is the management structure for NIC?
NIC is administrated by an Executive Director who reports to the Board of Directors of the Nebraska Innovation Campus Development Corporation (NICDC). The NICDC is a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation owned by the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska.
Who is on the Nebraska Innovation Campus Development Corporation (NICDC) Board of Directors?

Who is on the Nebraska Innovation Campus Development Corporation (NICDC) Board of Directors?
NIC has an appointed Faculty Advisory Committee to facilitate faculty input into relevant issues. This committee has developed guidelines for faculty who wish to develop proposals for NIC. The Faculty Advisory Committee also runs Faculty Exploratory Forums designed to allow faculty a collegial environment to test their ideas for NIC.
What is the vision for NIC?
The NICDC has developed a strategic plan for NIC that defines the NIC vision as “A dynamic environment where university and private sector talent transform ideas into innovation that impacts the world.”
What is the vision for the physical facilities on NIC?
NIC is envisioned to be comprised of over 2 million sq. ft. of research, meeting and office space upon full buildout. It is envisioned that up to 7,000 people could be working on NIC at full buildout with 1/3 employed by UNL and 2/3 employed by private business and non-UNL employers. The development on NIC will be a dense urban environment with multi-story buildings.
Are there restrictions on who can build on NIC?
All private entities located on NIC must have a relationship with UNL. The NICDC Board of Directors has established an approval process for all potential partners wishing to locate on NIC.
I keep hearing Nebraska NOVA, the Woodbury Corporation and Scott Woodbury Wiegert LLC mentioned in conjunction with NIC. Who are these companies and how are they associated with NIC?
The NICDC signed a non-exclusive partnership with Nebraska NOVA Development LLC to develop the infrastructure and Phase I buildings on NIC. Nebraska NOVA is an operating unit of Scott Woodbury Wiegert LLC.
